Twin-robot CT
X-ray source and detector are mounted on two independent robot arms, enabling free, non-circular scan trajectories around the component, even with restricted accessibility.
EXIST start-up project
RayBotic develops a mobile, robot-based CT system for non-destructive testing. X-ray source and detector orbit the object in one continuous fly-by motion, matching the scan time and image quality of a standard industrial CT machine. And all that for components that are too large, too heavy, or too firmly installed for a conventional CT scanner.
RayBotic combines twin-robot CT, mobile system engineering, and fly-by scanning in a single platform.
Conventional industrial CT systems rely on a turntable and a fixed source-detector geometry: reliable for small, rotatable parts, but unsuitable for large, asymmetric, or permanently installed components. That is exactly where we come in: our system brings computed tomography to the object. For the operator it feels like a familiar CT machine with the same scan time, the same quality, and the same look and feel, just with far more flexible inspection possibilities.
X-ray source and detector are mounted on two independent robot arms, enabling free, non-circular scan trajectories around the component, even with restricted accessibility.
Instead of bringing the part to the CT, the system comes to the part. Large, heavy, or permanently installed components are inspected directly in the field, with no disassembly and no transport.
X-ray source and detector stay in continuous motion instead of stop-and-go. Compared with other robot-guided CT systems, this cuts scan time considerably – with freely selectable trajectories.
Scan planning maximizes the mathematical completeness of the acquisition (Tuy-Smith condition), yielding low-artifact, reliable 3D volumes for analysis and defect detection.
The mobile system is set up at the object: on the shop floor, on the construction site, or in the field.
X-ray source and detector orbit the part in one continuous motion – at the same scan time and image quality as a conventional CT machine, and considerably faster than robot-guided systems that work in stop-and-go.
The projections are reconstructed into a 3D volume: pores, cracks, voids, and joining defects become visible and documentable.
Anywhere components are too large, too valuable, or too firmly installed for classical CT systems:
